About Open Access

We now have a dedicated Open Access Studio available for artist printmakers to work under their own direction, supported by a Studio Technician.

For those who plan to use the studio more than one session per month, Membership is now available offering a more economical option.

Non-members Open Access

Open Access sessions are available for non-members to book to use the facilities in the Open Access Studio to make your own work. A tutor will be in the studio throughout the day to provide technical assistance and to support the use of the equipment. Your first booked session in our new studio will include a 1 hour Studio Induction.

General materials such as papers, ink, and many other items can be purchased from us to use during your studio time, or you can bring your own materials to use. If you need specific materials please email to check availability before your booked session.

Open Access sessions are available to artist printmakers who have either:

  • Attended a relevant course at the Curwen Print Study Centre and are confident in working independently; for example, if you want to do some etching, you need to have attended an etching course and feel happy working on your own.
  • Or experienced artist printmakers who are confident in working independently for their selected printmaking technique, and have completed a Studio Induction session.

Experience level

Suitable for anyone who has attended a course at Curwen Print Study Centre, or those with printmaking experience.

Maximum 4 places in studio

Non-members Cost:

  • Full day sessions £50, excluding materials
  • Evening sessions £40, excluding materials

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm
Plus some Thursday evenings 4.30pm – 8.30pm
Two Saturdays 9.30am – 4.30pm

Members Open Access

The CPSC Open Access Membership Scheme is now available to join.

Membership gives you a number of exclusive benefits including access to unlimited bookable sessions to use the Open Access studio from 28 February 2022. A maximum of 10 x advance booked sessions (am, pm or eve) can be in place at any one time on a rolling basis.


Membership Types:

Ongoing Membership £80 per month, excluding materials

  • Membership is limited to 40 members with a maximum 4 places in the studio for each session.
  • Minimum 6 months membership.
  • Your first booked session will include a 1 hour Studio Induction with the Studio Technician.

30 Day Open Access Membership £200, excluding materials

  • There are a limited amount of 30 Day Memberships available.
  • 30 Day Members gain unlimited use of the Open Access Studio for the selected 30 days.
  • Your first booked session will include a 1 hour Studio Induction with the Studio Technician.

Session times and dates from:

Members have the exclusive benefit of being able to book individual morning, afternoon and evening sessions Monday to Friday, plus two Saturdays every month and some Thursday evenings per week.

Morning session 9.30am – 1.00pm
Afternoon session 1.00pm – 4.30pm
Thursday evening session 4.30pm – 8.30pm
