Screen Printing – with Textiles

Screen printing, sometimes called serigraphy or silk screen printing, uses the method of creating an image on paper or fabric by pushing ink through a screen mesh with areas blocked off by stencils. The stencils can be made from paper, drawing fluid, screen filler or a light sensitive emulsion.
On this course you will learn how to create multi-coloured fabric designs using paper stencils. You will be assisted in developing your image to make it suitable for this process. After creating your design, you will learn how to separate it into coloured layers. You will learn how to set up the equipment, mix inks and use a squeegee to print on to your chosen fabrics. Focusing on image registration and placement on fabrics, you will learn how register your layers to print your final design to create repeat prints. We provide fabric for testing but please bring your own tea towels, tote bags etc. They are readily available online – we recommend https://www.textiles4print.co.uk
