The Entangled Self 8 is one of a suite of 8 etchings I made in 2014. I printed directly from human hair as I see hair as line work - many lines drawing together. Hair lives both externally (on the skull) and internally (inside the skull) – it is very much part of our identity. These etchings continue my interest in printing directly from the human body to explore human identity and portraiture. Hair produces extremely fragile lines - at the limit that you can capture on an etching plate. This etching reflects on our fragility.
