In Celebration of 200 years of John Curwen

Dec 12, 2016

The Curwen Primary School came to the Curwen Studio in celebration of 200 years since John Curwen birth. Members of the School Council from Years 7 to 11 came to create prints on printing presses that would have been in use during John Curwen lifetime.

Stanley Jones MBE who was responsible for establishing Artist Printmaking at Curwen in Plaistow in 1958 gave a short talk to the children before they embarked on creating fabulous prints of their own. It was a fun day for everyone involved with totally focused pupils asking informed questions of Stanley.

An impromptu singing session of "Doh a Dear ...." around the Press whilst printing an image of John Curwen music sheet was much enjoyed by all.
Thank you all for your visit and lovely feedback.

"I found my experience phenomenal and everything was incredible, the artwork, the methods, everything was too good to believe. I love this and want to come here everyday. Who wouldn't want to come here?"
