Join us as we welcome Mark Anstead, owner of Cambridgeshire Wine School, for a truly unique wine tasting event hosted amidst our exhibition of the outstanding prints & lithographs of Marc Chagall, a truly great 20th Century artist.
At this event we celebrate the art of Chagall, whilst also educating our palates with some fine wines selected to reflect Chagall's life & work. As we sample the wines and learn about them, we will also be taking time to view the exhibition and find out more about the inspirational artworks.
This event is a sensory journey combining smell and taste with the visual impact of Chagall's artworks, elevating our experience of the wine and enjoyment of the art.
The russian born and largely French based Marc Chagall has long been recognised as one of the leaders of the 20th Century's golden age of modern art. A contemporary of Picasso, Duffe and Matisse, Chagall's comissions incllude the monumental masterpiece that adorns the ceiling of the Paris L'Opera, three magnificent stained glass windows for Reims Cathedral and two massive murals for the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.
The Curwen exhibition will show works of a more modest size but with no lessening of artistic excellence. The show includes a lithograph detail of the Paris Opera ceiling featuring Romeo & Juliet and a set of 12 lithographs of the designs for Chagall's iconic 12 stained glass windows 'The Twelve Tribes'.
All work is available for sale to raise funds for Curwen at greatly reduced prices, for the duration of show only, with 100% going to Curwen.
