Printmaking at the Old Sun Inn Saffron Walden: Gelli Plate & Monoprinting
Join Curwen tutors for a printmaking workshop in the historic Old Sun Inn in the heart of Saffron Walden. Take inspiration from images of the historic surroundings of the building and the town. Images will be provided but please bring any images you would like to use. There will be a break for lunch, please bring lunch with you or you can go into town for lunch.
Monoprinting is a printmaking technique where the image can only be made once because it has been treated in a unique way through inking or wiping. Gelli Plates are a contemporary technique used for monoprinting. These plates are durable, reusable, easily cleaned and are ideal for monoprinting without a press, and are ideal for working in an experimental, expressive and creative way.
In the afternoon move onto using presses to create A4 sized images using a variety of techniques and textures to create original multi-coloured and layered images. By the end of the course, you will have created a huge variety of unique prints to take home.
