Introduction to Photo Plate Lithography

Lithography is a planographic process based upon the fact that grease and water do not mix. In Photo Plate Lithography, the images are drawn and painted onto drafting film or printed digitally on to acetate; the plate surface is exposed to UV light and developed to create hydrophilic areas. As a result of this, printing ink is then attracted to the image, and the parts of the surface with no image attract water. On this course, you will learn how to create, expose, and develop photolithographic plates, how to ink up and how to print your plate using an etching press. By the end of the course, you will have created a variable edition of at least 5x A4 prints.
