B.I.G. ground Etching on Zinc plate - Drawing & Impressions

NEW - Book both Etching courses at the same time and save £10!

On this new contemporary etching course, you will be using the innovative and non-toxic B.I.G. grounds developed by Andrew Baldwin of Trefeglwys Print Studios in Powys, instead of traditional hard or soft ground, to coat the zinc plates. This new approach to etching makes it a technique that can easily be done in a home environment. The main constituent of B.I.G. is ink, and it allows the artist printmaker to experiment with many different effects on their etching plate. Once applied to the plate and set, marks are made through it using a sharp tool to expose the zinc beneath and the plate is then etched using copper sulphate. On this course you will be given 2 x A5 etching plates one for drawing and one for soft ground impressions.
