CPSC Certificate in Fine Art Printmaking

Every Tuesday from 24 September 2024
Led by Karina Savage BA with additional specialist tutors throughout the course.

Every Monday from 3 February 2025
Led by Hannah Webb MA with additional specialist tutors throughout the course.


1 day a week for 31 weeks over 3 Terms. Students must attend all 3 terms. Optional additional studio days are available at additional cost.

Course fees are to be paid before the start of each term. Term 1 fee to be paid at point of booking, Term 2 and 3 fees are due on or before the first day of term.


Description

An opportunity to study printmaking in depth to achieve the Curwen Print Study Centre Certificate (in Fine Art Printmaking).

An introduction to diverse printmaking methods, techniques, and approaches.

High level of technical support and individual tuition, enabling students to gain competence in a range of processes while exploring and developing their own creative ideas.

Planned personal development days with tutor support, to revisit techniques and develop your own work.

Limited currently to 8 students, ensuring good access to equipment and bespoke tuition. Depending on numbers, for some techniques the participants may be split into 2 groups.

Continuous feedback and mentoring throughout the course from tutors and end-of-term assessments for all 3 terms by the Lead Tutor.


CPSC Certificate Membership:

  • All CPSC Certificate participants will receive CPSC Certificate Print Membership for the duration of the course they are attending, as part of the course

  • CPCS Certificate Print membership will enable course participants to book additional studio days in the Open Access studio to continue their personal development for a reduced daily fee of £30.00


    Final personal development and mentor/critique of the portfolio of prints produced throughout the course with external assessor Susan Aldworth, at the end of Term 3.

    Exhibition and Private View in the Studio Gallery at the end of the course.

    • Week 8 – Relief Solar Plate
    • Week 9 – Personal Development (solar plate)

    Term 3 – Planographic Printmaking (10 weeks)

    Cost (10 weeks): £1075 including materials

    • Week 2 – Monoprinting – Textures and found objects
    • Week 3 – Personal Development (demo offset litho)
    • Week 4 – Screen Printing with paper stencils
    • Week 5 – Screen Printing with drawing fluid & screen filler
    • Week 6 – Screen Printing with photo emulsion
    • Week 7 –Personal Development (Screen)
    • Week 8 – Photoplate Lithography
    • Week 9 – Assessment with Lead Tutor & Personal Development (Photo Lithography)
    • Week 10 – Assessment/critique with course Lead Tutor and external assessors & Personal Development

    At the end of Term 3 there will be an additional ‘Hanging & Curation Day’ for the Group Exhibition (date TBC with the group).  There will be a Private View for the exhibition (date and times TBC with the group)

    Payment / Terms and Conditions

    For all courses except CPSC Certificate course

    Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received.

    If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £20 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 1 month before the course start date.

    Course transfers are at the discretion of Curwen Print Study Centre. Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.

    For CPSC Certificate course

    Payment for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this payment has been received. Payments for Terms 2 & 3 will be due at the end of the previous term. Payments for Terms 2 & 3 will be due before the first day of each term.

    If for any reason prior to the commencement of the course you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £20.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 1 month before the course start date. Once you start the course on Term 1 you have committed to all 3 terms. Course transfers are at the discretion of Curwen Print Study Centre.

    Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.
