CPSC Certificate in Fine Art Printmaking

Every Monday from Monday 28 February 2022
Led by Hannah Webb MA with additional specialist tutors throughout the course.

Every Tuesday from Tuesday 6 September 2022
Led by Emma James MA with additional specialist tutors throughout the course.

1 day a week for 31 weeks over 3 Terms
(1 day per Term is available as optional additional day for which a fee is due). Students must attend all 3 terms.

Course fees are to be paid before the start of each term. Term 1 fee to be paid at point of booking, Term 2 & 3 fees are due on the last day of the previous term.

Description
An opportunity to study printmaking in depth to achieve the Curwen Print Study Centre Certificate (in Fine Art Printmaking).
• An introduction to diverse printmaking methods, techniques and approaches.
• High level of technical support and individual tuition enabling students to gain competence in a range of processes while exploring and developing their own creative ideas.
• Planned Personal Development Days with tutor support, to revisit techniques and develop your own work.
• Limited currently to 6 students ensuring good access to equipment and bespoke tuition.
• Continuous feedback and mentoring throughout the course from tutors with end of term assessments for all 3 terms by Lead Tutor.
• Final Personal Development & Mentor/critique of the portfolio of prints developed and produced during the entire course with external assessors Stanley Jones MBE, Susan Aldworth, at the end of Term 3
• Exhibition and Private View in the Studio at the end of the course.
• Suitable for all abilities.


Term 1 – Relief Printmaking (10 weeks)

Term 1 cost: £995 including materials.

• Week 1 – Initial Induction/Colour Theory/Introduction to Linocut
• Week 2 – Lino - Jigsaw
• Week 3 – Lino - Key Block
• Week 4 – Lino - Reduction
• Week 5 – Lino - Multi Block
• Week 6 – Woodcut
• Week 7 – Letterpress
• Week 8 – Cardboard Cut & Collagraph
• Week 9 – Collagraph & Viscosity printing
• Week 10 – Optional Open Access Day (additional cost)
• Week 11 – Personal Development day and assessment


Term 2 – Planographic Printmaking (10 weeks)

Term 2 cost: £995 including materials.

Course structure
• Week 1- Monoprinting with textures/found objects and drawing/painting.
• Week 2 – Monoprinting - Textures & Found Objects
• Week 3 – Screen Printing with paper stencils.
• Week 4 – Screen Printing with drawing fluid & screen filler
• Week 5 – Screen Printing with photo emulsion.
• Week 6 – Screen Printing with photo emulsion.
• Week 7 – Personal Development
• Week 8 – Photo Plate Lithography.
• Week 9 – Photo Plate Lithography.
• Optional – Optional Open Access Day (additional cost)
• Week 10 – Personal Development and assessment.


Term 3 – Intaglio Printmaking (11 weeks including Final Show)

Term 3 cost (11 weeks) £1050 including materials.

• Week 1 – Drypoint.
• Week 2 – Hard ground Etching.
• Week 3 – Soft ground Etching Drawing & Impressions Etching
• Week 4 – Aquatint.
• Week 5 – Personal Development
• Week 6 – Aluminium Plate Lift Etching
• Week 7 – Aluminium Plate Lift Etching
• Week 8 – Intaglio Photo Solar Plate
• Optional – Optional Open Access Day (additional cost)
• Week 9 - Personal Development & Lead Tutor Assessment
• Week 10 – Personal Development & Mentor/critique
• Week 11 – Group Final Show

Payment / Terms and Conditions

For all courses except CPSC Certificate course

Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £15.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 1 month before the course start date.

Course transfers are at the discretion of Curwen Print Study Centre. Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.

For CPSC Certificate course

Payment for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this payment has been received. Payments for Terms 2 & 3 will be due at the end of the previous term. The receipt of your Term 1 payment is acceptance of commitment to all 3 Terms of the Certificate course.

If for any reason prior to the commencement of the course you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £15.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 1 month before the course start date. Once you start the course on Term 1 you have committed to all 3 terms. Course transfers are at the discretion of Curwen Print Study Centre.

Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.
