The
concept of the Curwen Print Study Centre is one that
seeks to promote a personal engagement and involvement
in printmaking regardless of experience and stature.
The
many courses and ongoing activities promoted through
the centre give rise to a rich engagement with the world
of fine art printmaking. These activities can be
individual "adventures" or within a peer group.
The course content can be tailored to meet the individual's
needs maximising the value of the time spent with us.
Within
this creatively charged but relaxed environment, the
school student and graduate student right through to
the highest-level professional can be assisted in their
quest for creative knowledge and enrichment.
The
desire to want to draw and/or experiment is the basis
from which to encounter the world of printmaking. Our
facilitates and in-house expertise will ensure that
these principles are converted into the kind of dynamic
energy that will secure a true and lasting impression
for anyone who works with us here at the study centre.

Teacher
Training
Specific
training courses for the teaching profession both at
primary and secondary levels.
The
course structures build to a complete hands-on printmaking
experience although individual workshops are designed
to be stand-alone.
All
the workshops are practical printmaking days producing
a wealth of material and techniques to take back to
school. It is not essential to have a printing press
in school to be able to achieve quality print making
in a school environment.
Workshops
- Printmaking
without a Press
Relief and mono printing including experimental techniques.
- Printmaking
with a Press
Screen printing and etching without chemicals.
- Taking
Printmaking into a new dimension

Taster
Days
An
opportunity for anyone of any age or ability to experience
a variety of printing techniques as an insight into
the world of printmaking.
Suitable
for individuals, who may wish then to pursue a skill
further, and for groups from schools to allow them an
opportunity to use facilities otherwise not available,
or groups of adults as a corporate away-day to free
up their creativity or simply cleanse the mind and boost
team morale. Plus art groups who would like to try new
skills.

Courses
Specifically for Schools
Flexibility
is the key word here. We can organise courses to fulfil
curriculum needs and tailor them to match the age of
the students. You can choose the Print making skill
and the duration of the course. It does not have to
run on consecutive days or always with
the same group of students.
It
could be a rolling programme for an entire year group
which would allow each student to attend a printmaking
workshop as part of their coursework, or learn a specific
technique or a mixture of techniques to illustrate varied
use of media and form extended from one original image.
