Chloe Cheese at The Fry Art Gallery

Chloe Cheese MA RCA at The Fry Art Gallery: view the Mr and Mrs Ravilious exhibition with Fry Gallery’s Frances Haine and Chloe who will give a personal insight into printmaking and growing up with the Great Bardfield artists followed by a monoprint and linocut workshop inspired by the show.

Course structure

· Explore the colours used by Ravilious and how they were inspired by and reflected the landscape.

· Look at the use of patterns and how these were integrated into their work and reflect on the sense of design within their work.

N.B: You should bring a note book for this part of the day so you can make notes and sketches.

After a coffee break relocate to the Fry Gallery for the practical workshop.

· Show and discuss examples with Chloe and explore ways of seeing

· Set up a simple still life for drawings and ideas – but everyone is encouraged to also bring their own reference materials, drawings and photos

· Demonstration of techniques of monoprinting and linocut

· Develop images and cut lino blocks

· Learn how to ink the linocut and print it

· Explore the use of monoprinting to create drawn and painterly marks

· Consider combining and layering monoprints and linocuts together

For all courses except CPSC Certificate course

Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received. If full payment is not received within 10 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 10 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 10 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.

Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.


For CPSC Certificate course

Payment of the deposit for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this deposit has been received. If the Term 1 deposit is not received within 20 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void. The outstanding balance for Term 1 is due before the start of Term 1.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 20 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 20 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.
