Student Portfolio Day

An opportunity to work with experienced printmaking tutors in a professional studio. Focussing on developing and boosting coursework for GCSE, A’ Level and IB as well as portfolio preparation for an application to a Foundation or a Degree course.

Techniques taught on this course include Drypoint (image approx A5) and Lino (image 150 x 150 mm approx) and you will take home at least 5 prints each of Lino and Drypoint.

Course structure
• Look at and discuss work in sketchbooks.
• Explanation of the two techniques and looking at examples.
• Introduction to tools and equipment.
• Cutting and incising techniques for both processes.
• Use of rollers for inking the lino block.
• Use of scrim and wiping techniques for inking drypoint acetates.
• Printing using relief and etching presses.
• Use masking and over-printing.
• Use of chîne collé.

Experience level
• Beginners and anyone wishing to refresh their skills

Payment / Terms and Conditions

For all courses except CPSC Certificate course

Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received. If full payment is not received within 10 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 10 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 10 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.

Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.


For CPSC Certificate course

Payment of the deposit for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this deposit has been received. If the Term 1 deposit is not received within 20 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void. The outstanding balance for Term 1 is due before the start of Term 1.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 20 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 20 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.
