Textile Screen Printing - Create Christmas gifts

Screen printing is also called Silk Screen. It uses a wooden or aluminium frame which has fabric, originally silk now a synthetic material, stretched over it. It is a stencil based process: a stencil is attached to the screen and when ink is pushed through the mesh an image is created. Stencils can be made from paper, drawing fluid, screen filler or photo emulsion.

On this course you will learn how to create fabric designs using hand-drawn and photographic images; how register your design and how to create a repeat pattern. You will learn how to transfer your design on to the screen using photo emulsion and how to set up the equipment, mix inks and use a squeegee to print on to tea towels, tote bags and samples of fabric.

By the end of the course you will take home 3 Tote bags and 3 Tea towels - ideal Christmas gifts, with the opportunity to purchase and print more. You may also bring your own fabric to print onto.
