Traditional Etching Masterclass with David Borrington MA RCA

A unique Masterclass tailored to suit your personal development in this area of intaglio printmaking. This course will be led by David Borrington MA RCA, who has over fifteen years of expertise in this traditional specialist technique. The course will allow you to refine and deepen your technical knowledge, skills and experience in relation to your own practice.

It will explore and focus on the traditional approaches and techniques within all areas of etching including using hard-ground, soft-ground, sugar-lift, aquatint, drypoint and multi-plate printing. You will learn the whole process from plate preparation to paper handling alongside the value of good workshop practice whilst undertaking your own ideas.

Pre-course information
You will need to brief David prior to attending this course so that he can be prepared for session. This would be an informal conversation: just information on where you are now and where you want to go so that David can help you to bridge the gap.

Payment / Terms and Conditions

For all courses except CPSC Certificate course

Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received. If full payment is not received within 10 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 10 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 10 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.

Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.


For CPSC Certificate course

Payment of the deposit for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this deposit has been received. If the Term 1 deposit is not received within 20 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void. The outstanding balance for Term 1 is due before the start of Term 1.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 20 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 20 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.
