Printing the Unexpected - with Jim Anderson

Jim Anderson is a multi-media artist & designer, his work uses different media and materials with a strong focus on use of found or recycled materials. He is a member of The Royal Society of Printmakers, recipient of many prizes and has contributed to numerous publications. He is co-author with Anne Desmet RA of 'Handmade Prints’. Taking inspiration from Jean Dubuffet this course will investigate possibilities of making prints using basic sources, with found and recycled materials, returning to the rough, the handmade and the surprising.

Course structure
• View and discuss examples of prints of Jim’s work and use of recycled materials
• Make home-brewed recycled paper
• Construct collaged blocks from recycled materials including hardboard, card, string, and even old coffee grounds
• Use stencils found objects and lino fragments to add interest and detail
• Combine methods and experiment with printmaking creative processes
• You will produce a small series of unique prints and take home some sheets of your handmade paper

Payment / Terms and Conditions

For all courses except CPSC Certificate course

Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received. If full payment is not received within 10 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 10 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 10 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.

Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.


For CPSC Certificate course

Payment of the deposit for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this deposit has been received. If the Term 1 deposit is not received within 20 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void. The outstanding balance for Term 1 is due before the start of Term 1.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 20 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 20 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.
