Cardboard Cut at Letchworth Settlement

On this half day course you will learn about and investigate the qualities and potential of cardboard for making relief prints. You will explore a variety of cutting, incising and tearing techniques to create a range of unique and subtle marks, textures and shapes in your images. A very low-tech and easy-to-learn technique with really beautiful results.

Course structure
• Introductory talk and looking at examples
• Explanation of the cardboard cut technique
• Introduction to the tools, materials and methods used in cardboard cut printmaking
• Use and experiment with a range of tools
• How to apply inks
• The use of masking in creating an image
• Printing using the etching presses and hand burnishing

Experience level
• Beginners and/or those wishing to refresh their skills.

For all courses except CPSC Certificate course

Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received. If full payment is not received within 10 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 10 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 10 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.

Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.


For CPSC Certificate course

Payment of the deposit for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this deposit has been received. If the Term 1 deposit is not received within 20 working days of a place being reserved, the booking will be assumed to be void. The outstanding balance for Term 1 is due before the start of Term 1.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £10.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 20 working days before the course start date. Cancellations received less than 20 working days before a course starts will require the full course fee to be paid.
