Monoprinting using Textures and Found Objects at Letchworth Settlement

A Monoprint is a form of printmaking where the image can only be made once because it has been treated in a unique way through inking, wiping or the use of chine collé. On this course you will use varied materials and found objects, including textured papers, leaves, feathers and fabrics, to make, combine and develop printed images. You will be able to experiment with counter prints, ghost printing, different inks, using presses and hand printing methods. By the end of the afternoon you will have at least 5 x A4 prints to take home.

• Explanation of the techniques with examples and demonstration
• Looking at initial ideas, textures and materials to use
• Work with inked plates to combine and build layered colours
• Using ghost, counter prints and masking techniques to create layered prints
• Printing using the etching presses and hand burnishing
