Introduction to Lino

Linocut is a relief printing process in which the lino is cut away leaving the remaining raised areas, which is then inked and printed. Learn how to plan, cut, and print an image into a 150 x 150 mm square lino block. Use masking techniques to produce a range of varied and multi-coloured images from one block. A single day workshop or an introductory day to further Lino courses.

Course structure
• Explanation of relief printing and looking at examples.
• Introduction to equipment and cutting techniques.
• Planning an image and cutting the design.
• Use of rollers and how to ink up your block.
• How to print by hand and by using a press.
• Using masking and over-printing for additional colours.

Experience level
Suitable for beginners and those wishing to refresh their skills.

To book more than one course:
1 - Make note of all the course dates you wish to attend.
2 - On one of the course pages, click the 'Book me a space now' and add the ticket.
3 - Click 'View selections', this shows your basket with the date you selected. Now click 'Select more'.
4 - Select the next date you wish to book and add the ticket.
5 - Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have all the dates in your basket. Click Book Now to checkout.

Payment / Terms and Conditions

For all courses except CPSC Certificate course

Full payment of the course fee is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until full payment has been received.

If for any reason you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £20 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 1 month before the course start date.

Course transfers are at the discretion of Curwen Print Study Centre. Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.

For CPSC Certificate course

Payment for Term 1 is required when booking a place. A reserved place is not secure until this payment has been received. Payments for Terms 2 & 3 will be due at the end of the previous term. Payments for Terms 2 & 3 will be due before the first day of each term.

If for any reason prior to the commencement of the course you are unable to attend, we will refund monies paid minus a £20.00 admin fee, as long as you cancel your place more than 1 month before the course start date. Once you start the course on Term 1 you have committed to all 3 terms. Course transfers are at the discretion of Curwen Print Study Centre.

Curwen Print Study Centre reserves the right to cancel courses – a full refund will be made in these circumstances.
